I just bought a 95 camry coupe with the steering wheel airbag deployed!

i just bought a 95 camry coupe with the steering wheel(and passenger) airbag deployed and I want to make the wheel look decent as CHEAP as possible. I don't need the airbag.just the cover,or a cheap racing steering wheel.I heard different toyota steering wheels are interchangeable like the 2000 celica wheel with the 1995 camry.

I know it is not safe to ride around w/o airbags and i know it will hurt the resale value of the car, i dont care. The car runs great and i just really want information on the cheapest way to make the steering wheel look decent.

i checked ebay for cheap aftermarket steering wheels and they seem to all be for 87-90 camrys.nothing for third gens.

as of now the cheapest thing i can think of is going to the junkyard and buying only the cover and not the entire steering wheel(airbag), if they are even willing to do that...

please help.

But before you register the car you need safety test and without a airbag you won't pass.

Fix the airbag for safety test, and then look at a Celica 2000+ steering wheel. IMO that looks nice

yea the right and left airbags were deployed when i purchased the car.(owners little brother had a front end accident).engine was untouched and the car drives real nice. smooth and strong. a little shake at 75mph but very minimal.something you would expect from a 15 yr old car.

its a coupe and the same maroon color as you eyeball

quick question how hard is it to remove a passenger airbag cover(from a junk car)and install it into mine?i dont need to connect the actual airbag, just the cover.

Mmmm front end collisions are always tricky, as soon as that engine gets a major shakeup that car gets a big "?" over it, and since you mention a slight vibration and airbag deployement, I am a bit concerned, but hey if you like it, that's ALL that matter and it's a coupe Removing the air bag from a junkyard car isn't too hard, go to a Upull yard and you should be fine.

Ya might wanna double check that...

Get an airbag. Youll thank yourself when you get in an accident and there will be an airbag keeping you from being killed when your face smacks into the dash/steering wheel.
