Canada rear speaker replacement 2000 camry

Tried to get at the rear speakers but got caught up in the removal of the deck panel. My Camry is a 2000 XLE, and the best diagrams I found were for a 2002, which didn't seem to have the same plastic piece behind the seats. Mine seems to only have 4 snaps, not 9, and I can't see how to remove it to get at the deck panel. I got the rear seats removed ok, and the pillar covers, and even the sides of the seats. After that I got stuck
How do I get the deck panel off? It's got 3 child seat anchors attaching it to the frame, and the seat belts are also attached to it. I noticed that the speaker covers are not supposed to be removed ( after trying a little bit ), so they must stay on when the whole thing comes off...but how do I coax that panel out? Am I just supposed to get a firm grip and pull? I'm afraid to try.

4th Generation rear speaker replacement 2000 camry

I recently had to replace the speakers on my 2001 Camry so i'm thinking it might be similar to what you need. What I did was:
1. removed the 3 bolts attaching the deck to the frame
2. removed the side panels that hold down the deck so you really have to take these off. They should just snap off, not really hard to do.
3. Remove the back stop light.
4. I folded the back seats down but I didn't have to remove them.
5. This next step took me a while but to remove the deck you first need to go in through your trunk and you'll see about 4-6 white clips. push these up with some pliers. then from the inside just tug away. be REALLY CAREFUL doing this since you don't want to break the deck and it'll take a while but with some elbow grease you should be good.

Let me know if you need some more help or post some pics to see your work.
5. Remove old speakers. I think they are held down by 3- 10mm screws.
