3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Since this is the same engine family as the existing 1MZ-FE (sludged), there shouldn't be too many issues, right? Anyone done this before? The 3.3 I am looking at is out of an 04 Lexus RX330.
quite a few, partly because one is VVTI and the other isnt. but search here and on solaraguy.com. ya may try PMing "SCWEET" here or "TRD4life" on solaraguy. they have experinace with the swap/hybrid.
depending on your reasons for choosing the 3mz over the 1mz...the swap wont be worth the small amount of power increase it provides. replacing or rebuilding the 1MZ would be cheaper.

I'm checking checking my options. I have a potential cheap deal on a 3.3. the 3.0's aren't real common on the used market around here. Maybe I could just swap my heads and upper end on to the 3.3.
From what I saw of Milt's car... damn, a 3MZ would be nice. He had a dream car... us Aussies don't get to see Coupes on the road, let alone with a 3MZ with a TRD Supercharger installed... I wonder what happened with that? *drools*
you should get the earlier model 3mz that isnt throttle by wire... that would be an easier swap. for swap wiring, i'd suggest checking out phoenix tuning.
