4th Generation 97-01 camry fiberglass spare tire enclosure

hi so i finally did a simple spare tire enlosure with a MDF top on it and eventually i will do the top like most pro's and painted and stuff but thatt'll be later along with a back seat speaker towers and amp rack.
BUT ANYWAYS so i decided to do a spare tire enclosure with mdf top, very simple.

heres what you'll need.
fiberglass-shake it you'll want to make sure its more like maple sryup and less like molasis. also i've read it a hundred time and its the best advice, GET A FIVE GALLON PALE! and shop around trust me next time im going to call around more until i've found the cheapest closest 5 gallon pale. you save in the end and when you see how easy it is to do. wow.you'll fell comfortable fiberglassing anything. so get the 5 gallon seriously save your money.
fiberglass chop mat-call around again and find sumwhere you can get it in like 20 by 20 sheets or at least price it out so you can get the most in bulk as possible.
Paint Brushes- shop around again you'll want like 10 unless you get sum accetone from what i've heard can clean them.
Aluminum Foil or 2 sided tape-you use this for the medium between trunk and glass.
Masking Tape-use to tape aluminum down
Plastic Tupperware-to mix in
MDF-selfexplanatory
Screws
Accoustic sealant
- to seal(its in caulking tube so you can use a caulking gun)
Gloves-lots of them
Sanding Pad or Grinder grider is nice to sand if you got sum ruff edges.

i think thats everything if i left anything out im sure you'll tell me

so take out the spare tire and its screw in hold down
clean it out anything lose in the take it out vaccum it maybe get your area clear and ready.

ok so its cleared out.
now take the aluminum foil and lay it on the bottom. tape the side of the foil and form the foil to the trunk. give yourself a nice big lip so you have sumthing to screw to.
tape the edge of each foil down you dont want it to stick to the trunk.
ok so your all taped up foils formed not ripped, if it is tape it. ok so now mix your fiberglass as it states to on the package. now slap it all over the foil then once you've covered your foil start cutting the chop mat and forming it to the foil(oops oh ya make sure you've always got your gloves when doing this stuff) form the mat on there. a great great tip, slap on fiberglass on the mat the more soaked the mat the easier you'll find to keep it in place and form with. its really easy. soak the mats ones they're on the foil and just soack each mat and you'll easily be able to form the mat and once you've laid mat over everything and soaked it, let it sit for an hour or 2 if its hot and sunny park that cam with the trunk open and doors open.
after 2 hours or so go mix another batch slap it on.
once dry enough try loosening the tape on the sides and see hhow solid it is and if you feel its nice a sturdy try tugging it out pull it up at the front in into the trunk and then lift the back pull it out and you should have thing

so you have your mold and it was super easy. i did it and it was hot out, stuff dried within half hour after every layer.
so now do another mat and glass layer.
may want to turn over after that dries and make sure the underside is all reinforced, then start glassing again once its dried again. do 2-3 more layers. if you want you can do as many layers of mat you want. once your half way you'll know whether you want more mat because the mold should be fairly strong after the first 2 mat layers. what you may want to do is put more glass on the lip and the sides. the bottom will probably be solid.
so let dry
ok so now the molds all good.
now make sure you have a semi even smooth lip to scwer to. you may need to sand or grind sum stuff down.
now lay acoustic sealant along the edge of the lip, dont be shy with it.
take you MDF(you'll want a 3'x3' board cut) either cut out everything first or when its screwed. i did it when it was screwed so i could center it in the trunk. screw the lip down into the mdf so screw stick out and you can cut them off. you should be left with this

there then you got sumthing ready to go into the trunk and it was easy.

when i did it it was like 30 degrees celcius and it was drying super fast
i let it sit in the sum to and i promise you i could of flipped it on the top and fried eggs on it. it was super hot from the sun and tin foil
ok so you have done all the step and you have a crude finished product. you can do anything with it to. wanna do the top its just as easy, follow the steps of other fiberglass threads and put just mdf on the lip and build your frame on there and stretch your cloth and slap sum glass on it.
well heres mine with the stock carpet put on it.

there she is my terrible amp and subs.
if i missed anything add it in.
