klanking noise

When i hit a bump or turn the wheel to the right i hear a klanking/banging noise coming from the left frunt wheel area......what could this be.....

if the clanking is in rythym with the wheel (rim & tire wheel, not steering) turning - that is a CV issue.

if it happens as the wheel passes over a bump - its probably your sway bar end link, strut mount or lower ball joint.

look around the wheel to see if one of the CV boots is broken and leaking oil. my guess is this is not your problem.

thanks for all the help I found the problem, it was the sway bar link, the bolt was gone and the sway bar rubbed all the thread off the link, replaced it and no more noise

What is the sway bar? I looked at Haynes and tried looking up on rockauto, but nothing is noted as sway bar.

I assume it is also referred as something else, maybe control arm?
