4th Generation Key Question

I have a 2001 Camry that was giving me problems with the ignition cylinder. After reading a few post I decided to buy a new ignition cylinder. Now my car wont start, the security light is on even when the key is in. How do I disable/reset the system? inks

Not sure

TOday I took my *** down to the local Toyota dealer and they told me that its a chipped key. Thier solution to the problem is to buy the 200+ dollars original cylinder and pay the 150+ to program it.

I asked if buying a cylinder from a pick n pull (jjunk yard) will work as always they couldn't answer. I ask if there was a way to bypass the security they told me not because it was a security messure so the car would not be stolen. Now I'm sure someone out there figured how to bypass it. Nothing is theft proof these days.

If I buy a uncut chipped key at the dealer, will I be able to program it to the aftermarket cylinder. Once Again thanks looking at the post.

If you have access to your old lock, try spraying WD-40 into it. That helped for the older camry.

If you are looking for a ignition cylinder, i need to sell a new one too which i just bought
