Here's my perninent suggestion. Before you begin to rip apart your lil' 5s-fe search around to find out about its potential (more like lack thereof) first
Your gonne have to cut the headers and reweld it cuz the bottom engine mount gets in the way and the sensors are easy to hook up. I have done that mod and it gets really loud

I'm runnin 17.8's and love test and tune. little stuff and learning to drive it better so why not find cheap mods.

Seriously, the name escapes me right now, but a tuning shop once fully modded a 5s-fe camry and did everything except changing the original manifold saying quote that "...the slanted 5s engine, in it's "large for V6" engine bay, received a very well curved manifold from factory using alot of the space readily available between the bloc and rad." The only thing they did to it is a nice polish, to smooth the cast manifold out.
Honestly, I'd put the money else where... or (since you were ready to buy a custom header, hack it and have it customized again lol) you should get your manifold polished.
But don't get me wrong, the 5s(with the s51 5 speed) can produce a fun camry due to it's light weight! You get to surprise a few!!

I wasn't knocking the fact that even a 5s-fe can be fun! I'm just saying that these "cheap mods" won't gain you any performance. You have to spend money to see any HP or TQ gains

17.8 on an auto isnt that bad, but it would be better if you have the 5sp. on an all stock gen 3 5speed i pull a 17.0. Now that i have headers, intake and exhaust with a full 2.5in catback, i did a 16.5. i know i can do better. if you just wanna add little performance part to see different track time, i say get intake first, then obx header, then a full custom 2.5in catback. you will see alot of difference. And also, it all depends on your suspension too.
