3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I;m putting together a couple ES300/Camry V6 wagon rear disc setup's. Any interest?
I;m not putting this in the FS section due to the fact it's not actually "for sale".
The 92-96 ES300 and V6 Camry wagon has bigger rear rotors then the 92-01 Camry Sedan/Coupe and Gen 1 Solara. It also has bigger rear calipers then the 00-01 Camry and 00-03 Solara.
It;s basically an OEM Big Brake Kit. The rear rotors are 3/4" bigger then the normal ones.
I'm putting together a couple sets for some friends, and wondering if I should put a couple more sets together if anyone here is interested.
You can either upgrade your current rear disc brakes or do a drum to disc swap. If anyone is interested please PM me.
I'll actually be making a detailed DIY next week for this to help people that want to do it. It;s all OEM bolt on parts so no custom work needed.

^^ So your saying I can get rid of my Rear Drum breaks....and put rear caliper breaks in the back just like I have in the front? and that it's not hard to do!??!
If so, i'm down man cause I have a set of 18's on, and i'd rather caliper's in the back also to give it a nice look!
What is the size difference between the v6 sedan rear disc and the ES300/v6 wagon rear disc rotors? Since I already have disc in the rear, what would be required to swap to the wagon/es300 rotors? Just a rotor and caliper carrier?

You CAN get away with using just the caliper and caliepr bracket I think (I'll confirm later as I;m doign it right now). It;s best to use the backing plate. But I think you''ll be able to use the stock backing plate and just bend it so it doesn't hit the rotor.

cant wait for the DIY, ive been considering doin the drum to disk conversion in the rear, my question is i have a I4 n currently got stock 14" alloys, i'd assume i'd have to get a larger rim in order to prevent clearance issues, correct? Or would i be able to keep my stock wheels for the time being?
I'm also thinking about doing that LS400 front caliper swap as well i saw in a thread a while ago

There is NO bolt on kit for the LS400 calipers right now. There IS a kit that looks liek it will be out in the near future. There is also the EricSol brackets to use the V6 Camry calipers and Supra TT rotors. But you need Min 17" rims.

Really? coulda sworn that the thread said for front brakes that a 91-92 ls400 caliper with a 96 es300 caliper bracket it be possible to fit a 4th gen , i'd have to look at that thread again

The LS400 caliper that year is basically the same as the '94-'96 ES300 and V6 Camry w/ABS. It;s funny how it fits on the caliper bracket. That setup will not be any better or worse then the ES300/V6 Camry wABS front calipers.

Yes. The only difference on your car would be the brake hoses (MAYBE) and e-brake cables. I think 2000 I4 was the 1st year with the bigger front brakes ont he I4 models. Correct me if I;m wrong please.
I;ll be writing a basic DIY for the swap tomorrow.
