3rd Generation need help assessing damage plz

ok so im driving home today after saying bye to a friend in the coastguard and out of nowhere i run into one of myrtle beach's many hidden potholes (the bad ones) Nailed it on my right side while doing a u-turn. After driving a mile down the road i decide to get out of the car just to make sure everything is ok because it was a very nasty bump when i hit it. The rims and everything are perfectly fine. The tire is just dirty from rubing on side of pot hole but i looked up underneath the car to find this.

This is under my front passenger side. Im guessing this is a dust boot for the axle? I dont know if this was caused by the pot hole or if it had been there for some time but now it is worryed me. Will i be ok to drive around on it today because i have a few places to go or should i just not drive until tomarrow morning when i take it to the shop? Does anyone know if this will be a cheap fix? or expensive?

Chris

Its OK to drive for a while but dirt and other stuff will get in there and wear out your cv joint....try to get it repaired as soon as possible
Most auto parts places have a repair boot

It probably has been that way for a while. Repalce the half-shaft or if yours has an intermediate and half-shaft on the right side replace both. Should not be enough difference in cost to sneeze over. I had the half-shafts replaced on mine 20 months ago and later got a bumping noise. Was coming from inside the joint between the two shafts. Dealer price for the half-shaft was the same as the entire assembly and actually easier to install the entire unit. I paid a friend $5o (remanufacture-exchange) for the assembly and put it in myself.
