4th Generation Suggestion for Rotors and Pads - GEN 4.5 2.2L

I am looking to change my rotors / pads for Front and also the rear pads for my 2000 camry 2.2L tomorrow.

Any suggestions on the brands?
I am going to do it tomorrow but there arent's a lot of options out there at Autozone.

All they carry now are DuraGold, Duragolf basic, etc

I used to be able to find things like Akebono, Raybestos, Hawks but they are not available at Autozone, O'reilley's any more.

I can try pepboys and see if I can get lucky.

Any suggestions.. online ordering is not an option.

Edit:
I finally went with what you guys suggested:

Brembo Rotors which i got off amazon - Link to brembo rotors
Akebono Ceramics which i got off amazon too - Link to Akebono ceramics

Thanks All!

The Toyota OEM brake pads are actually pretty good.

I did my front brakes at 50K miles. I used Toyota OEM pads and resurfaced the rotor. I'm at 103K miles and the front brakes are still have plenty of material left.

I still have the original rear brakes.

On my Maxima, I've always used Akebono Ceramic pads and I've had good luck with them. Good wear with good braking performance, dusting isn't bad either.

Stay away from the cheap Chinese rotors - warp, warp, warp. I use the Napa Ultra Premium rotors, they're expensive but excellant quality. The pads can be organic, metal compound or ceramic but I would be careful using too hard a pad as they may wear the rotors faster. Apparently there's not much difference in stopping ability unless you're driving like a crazy fool and heating the pads to excess. You may want to use what the factory used. Organic wear faster, but are cheaper to replace and less work than replacing the rotors. I easily get 60k from my pads.

^chinese rotors arent always bad, but they can't be the cheap ones.

I've used my hawks ceramics on monroe rotors(chinese made) for over a year.

checked them last oil change....8/10, rotors were fine too, no glaze no nothing.

^brembos are nice but they only go with hard pads like ceramic pads or they'll wear out the pads faster.

but they say hard pads + hard rotors arent good in the winter...but good in summer

frig...

I second the Brembo/Akebono ProAct combo. Or the Akebono Street Performance GG friction rated pads. But these are mail order which you can't wait.

However, your local parts store most likely carry the Raybestos QS and their cheaper grade Raymold rotors. I'd prefer the Raybestos Advanced Technology rotors, but the QS pads and Raymold red label service grade rotors work too. The QS won't last as long as the ProAct, however.

I believe the dealer pads are cheap version made by Akebono, with the lower EE friction rating. I'd go with Raybestos QS over the EE rated pads.

Previous poster mentioned Amazon. You can get them at TireRack.com as well. Looks like Akebono Street Performance is available there too. Not sure if it's worth the extra $$ for normal use however. (That's to say ProAct is quite decent for normal use). Maybe you'll try Street Performance and tell us.

Akebono pads are also available on Rockauto.com. They don't have Brembos but do have Raybestos Advanced Technology. For similar prices personally I go Brembo.

Checkout Amazon.com

I bought mine for about $40 per piece.

I checked tirerack and rockauto and 3-4 websites, they are slightly more expensive plus shipping. Some does offer freee shipping but it's over 100$.

Amazon was free shipping over $25. Those baby are HEAVY. Close to 26lbs so I ain't complaining when i got free shipping on amazon.

Here is a link to Amazon's Brembo rotors

All the best
