Hey there ladies and gents!!!
Well after getting a 4 day weekend, I decided to spend the better part of my afternoon on Monday after I returned from home from Montreal installing my DEPO's and my HID kit which have been lying around for awhile. It took me longer than it should have because the bolt retaining the headlight to the bumoer bracket was rounded off from a previous project and I had to deal with it now Got a new bolt from Toyota today for 1.09$... F'ing thieves... And the long cord dangling from the front bumper in the pics is the wire for the bloc heater(it's a Montreal car ) Made a special late night trip to the grocery store to try them out today. Well, enough bla bla, here are some pics, these are depo's and a Crucial Racing 5000K HID kit with a relay kit:
Depo's on the left versus stock on the right. High's and Low's are Silvania Silverstar Ultra's
With the high beams on.
With the 5000K HID kit in it.
HID kit again.
These are both DEPO headlights, the one of the left is clearly the HID, the one on the right the Sylvania
HID kit at night, it looks a tad less bright than it really is.
They look almost purple in this pic, but they are a crisp white with a touch of light blue
Very crumby picture from the inside of the car, sorry but I tried.
Personnally, I really like the illumination. HID kit set aside, I noticed the beam was wider that OEM lights. When I had the stock versus depo, I noticed the beam on the wall scattered much wider than the OEM lights. BTW, thanks to JCAMRY for the grille I will try to get some late night pics tommorow night in the local park which has 0 streetlamps... No one flashed me on the way to the grocery store tonight so I'll wait a couple of days and see if anyone gets pissed off, but so far, I'm not gonna align them down.

you really should retrofit some projectors in there if you want a good useable output and not blind drivers.

^^^ Haha, it ain't THAT bad, As for projectors, I was about to purchase a set that same day my car got hit a couple of weeks ago, but when it did get hit, I lost enthusiasm towards the project...

this is what my stock halogens look like with HIR bulbs... as you can see, there are no hot spots and my beam is already farther and wider than your kid kit..
^^ Is this on a gen 3.5???????? I'll have to retake the pic from the front with another camera, cause it seriously does not look that bad in person... Also, now that I pay more attention to the pic, it's the passenger side light only that has hotspots, the driver side seems ok.... I'll look into that when I get home today...

no its not a gen 3.5, its a 5.5, but i posted it mainly to show the comparison on how you have a lot of hotspots and how an even beam pattern on a halogen reflector bowl should look.
As for retaking the picture, try taking it at the same level as other drivers would see your headlights and then see how bad the glare is then.
^^ I believe that the gen 5.5 depo headlights are round in shape no? The depo's on the gen 3.5 are more oval shape, which is probably why the beam pattern is a bit different. I went and inspected the passenger headlight during my lunch hour and the bulb wasn't completely turned in so I tightened it. I guess I must have gotten tired at the end of the job and finished sloppily. What I will do to test it is I will take my friends camera and take a new picture with his camera. I'll also run a test and have him drive on the other side of the road in his subdivision which is dark and give me feedback, I will post results and pics tonight or tommorow morning...

they are OEM gen 5.5 SE headlights that are circular shaped. The improper installation of the bulb may have contributed to some of those hotspots.
I am not trying to put down your mod but it is just that I have seen way too many PnP HID kits that glare the crap out of me on the road and I just want to make sure that you arent doing that to others.

Yeah I hear you on that one, just last week I saw an improperly installed one that blinded the crap out of me. Well, after testing it with my friend, he had no complaints about glare, and I had the fortune( 1st and last time) of passing by a cop on the way home and he didn't turn around to pull me over. And this is in on a side street. The hotspots disappeared, which is good. They'll stick around for a couple more nights until I figure out if I really like them or not...
To deezeejoey: Well, it's never been done before, and for future reference, if anyone wants to get a rough idea of how it looks, they can check out the pics These depo's are hot of the line for the gen 3.5...
