Question FLOBLADE Gas Saver?

Has anyone ever used one of these before, or currently have one on their vehicle? Does it actually work? I've seen them on eBay but haven't paid too much attention to them until now because I got somewhat curious. If you don't know what I'm talking about, here is the link:

It's only about $10 shipped. Buy it and report back to us. A lot of people come here asking the same question. I think it's about time you tried it and found out for certain.

I would say that it doesn't work. My first check of reasonableness is to see whether or not car companies use this (if it worked, it is worth much more than $5 per car for big car companies to advertise a more fuel efficient vehicle).

Second (and maybe more sound) is to check the laws of fluid dynamics. Introducing a passive element to the airstream cannot induce more mass flow. The air may now move faster due to the resulting pressure drop, but less air can pass by this restriction. Net zero gain (probably a net loss due to less than perfect efficiency). I don't see any benefit in terms of being able to maneuver around piping bends easier as a vortex (mainly because any benefit would be negated by the created circumferential component of flow).

Third, let's check combustion dynamics. This is where the product may increase efficiency slightly. Swirled air and fuel will burn more complete than traditional air flow profiles. This would be a far cry from 33% increase in fuel efficiency, though (it is more likely that the test vehicle was tuned to run lean by tricking the MAF sensor into reading values consistent with less air flow than there really was).

Also see this link: http://www.carbibles.com/fuel_engine_bible_pg3.html

Final answer: don't buy it.

Junk. for all the resoons uuuuu said. Don't waste you time or $4. If you want higher mpg make sure your tires are inflated properly, air filter is clean, drum brakes are adjusted correctly so the don't drag, and finally, get a lighter right shoe. You won't push the pedal as hard or quickly. Might try a bottle of injector cleaner/fuel treatment once every couple months.

unfortunately, those tips aren't as "common" as you'd think. especially tire pressure. no offense intended, but you can't assume anything these days.

guess we need to start calling it UNcommon sense.

This stuff is crap. If it was so easy, then the car companies would be doing it left and right... Government Motors would have caught on a long time ago!!! Waste of money in my opinion, to save fuel, keep your car in shape, check the above mentioned components and change them as required, and lighten up your right foot. I keep my car in top shape at all time and I beat the mpg estimates for my car, new government rating rated my V6 at 26 mpg highway, the last test I ran gave me 27 mpg, and I drove 5% in city with that one.

hmm

Myth busted. The Mythbusters must have missed this one but since they busted every other hocus pocus contraption claiming improved mileage it is probably safe to assume that this product would have the same result. It may work on some psychological self-fulfilling manner as you will likely drive much more conservatively after install............

this falls in the same school of thought as "the more stickers on your car, the faster it goes."

yep let's add turbulence to the air intake system and it'll magically give you more mass air flow, and better gas mileage...

First, I didn't mean to insult you intelligence or anything (and I apologize if I did) but since this is advertised as a GAS SAVER I thought fuel savings was your goal.

Second, you are not the only person who reads the responses, and the common sense items may not have been so common sense to others.

So not only was I trying to respond to your question but also give some information that someone may be able to use.
