Separating tie-rod end from steering knuckle:
A small tie-rod end puller (OEM27022) should work. See Autozone's free loaner tool program:

Removing the driveshaft from steering knuckle:
Use a puller, well more like a "pusher" in this application.
Flange axle FWD puller. OEM27037. You tighten the silver flange to the lug bolts with lug nuts. Then just turn the center black bolt to
push out the driveshaft.
No hammering needed I agree.
