Air conditioner - 1995 Camry

I need to recharge the air conditioner in my 95 Camry. It blows cool air but it's not cold anymore so I assume it just needs a recharge (please tell me if I'm missing something). Two questions -

1) Does it take R134A?
2) Where could I get instructions on how to do this myself? Specifically where is the attachment for the can of R134A?

Thanks all.

I did this for my co-worker's 95 Camry.

1. Yes it takes R134a. There should be a sticker on the hood stating this.

2. It is the low side valve up near the passenger side. The recharge kit will only fit on the low side.

You would hook up the can on the low side, turn your AC on high, and then move the can back and forth until it is empty. You can feel the weight of the liquid in the can.

You can find a few of the videos online that show you how to do this.

If all that has happened was normal leakage over the years, then 1/2 a Walmart can can do wonders. Check your underhood sticker for exact refrigerant used.

I'd recommend that you go through the How-To Guide on Interdynamic's web site:

http://www.id-usa.com/how_to.asp

Look at (at least):
1. AC System Basics
2. Recharging Methods
3. Relevant "How-to" Videos

if not all sections, before you attempt anything. Remember, escaping refrigerant can flash freeze your eye balls in a fraction of a second.

Actually the can tells you to recharge the A/C on the high pressure side. All the instructions normally come on the can.....It is real easy to do it. Justm make sure you read the cautions before hand to make sure you take the right steps.

i just did this on my 96 camry last week. mine was 134a and i followed the instructions on the can. the hookup is a little awkward to reach being close to the firewall on the passenger side, but unscrew the cap (IIRC its blue or green and has an "L" stamped on it).
