I got mine for my 2000 camry on ebay. I don't think it was that much, but looks the same.

I put in the amber bulbs, the same as the front turn signals to be legal as I don't think white turn signals are.

Can you not fit the 01 side tail light into the 97-99?

I know the inner tail is different between 97 and 01 but the outer tail looks similar.

Plus the 01 depo tails look better than the 97 depo tails IMO

here is the 01 tail http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-01...%3A1|72%3A1171

I don't think you can. On the toyodiy website there is two different sets of numbers for this part. 81551 and 81561 as well as 81550 and 81560. The aftermarket parts tend to show up differently for the Gen 4's verses the gen 4.5.

I got a look at my original parts and there is no part number matching these on the part. I will say this though, I got a look at a couple of Gen 4 camry's and this inner part does look different. The Gen 4.5 is not the same width thoughout the whole piece. The Gen 4 appears to be the same width.

I got the same one of the ebay. They don't fit 100% you will have to modify them a little. The holes in the light and the way the bulb adapter screws is little different. I had to fut some of the holes to fit the bulb adapter into those. it was worth it though.

is it hard to do??

i heard from some people the holes are a little small and just need some sanding to get the bulbs to fit

is it the connector piece or will the bulb not fit through??? i have led lights so the bulb is much skinnier
