Talking acceleration problem/ rpm high 94 camry

hello everyone this is going to be my first post. I have a 1994 toyota camry coupe v6 le with 88k miles on it. Problem is that when i put it on "D" (drive automatic) it seems that the car struggles to get to 2nd gear and i have to baby the gas pedal. It will change to 2nd gear in between 4k - 5k rpm. and plus no acceleration power on 1st gear to 2nd gear. It drives smooth when i go over 50-60 miles and it runs like a champ. Im just wondering what is the problem. I went googling and no straight answer. i just hope that its not a tranny problem. any suggestions will help thanks!

Check your transmission fluid. If its dirty, do a drain and fill. If its low, top it up and see if it gets better. I would think the trans is slipping if you have no power or acceleration from 1st to 2nd. Will it shift any lower than 4k or always between 4k and 5?

Yeah, that sounds like your transmission is slipping. Try shifting into "2" and see if it behaves differently? Don't go over about 20 MPH in "2", it should be enough to test out the first two gears.
