Horrible on gas and high idle

Hey guys,

I recently swapped a 5sfe motor in my camry. It has been horrible on gas since and it has a high idle when in park. Around 1k-1.2k. I swapped it because my friend who previously owned the car blew the head gasket. So i swapped a whole block. I am wondering if my timing is off on the distributor, thus making it bad on gas. (I swapped the distributor too) Its not throwing any codes at this time, and there are no vacuum leaks I can find.

Any help would be great,
thanks!

If the timing is too far advanced, it will idle higher and use more fuel. Check the bolt on the distributor. If its not near the center of the adjustment channel, loosen the bolt and get it as close to the center as possible. That will get you close to 10 degrees BTDC. Then get a light and fine tune it. Check that your throttle cable is properly adjusted. I had a similar problem when I put the TB back on my Camry. The cable was holding the butterfly open a little because I didn't set it right and my idle was higher than normal.
