power steering pump BELT noise.

Hello,

After change the power steering pump BELT for my 1997 Camry 4 cylinder, when I turn all the way to left or right, and hold the it, I hear the noise, if I don't turn any, it will be fine, not noise. Before I changed the belt, it does not have any noise.

I check the belt is tire. but I don't know how much tire show be right, maybe it's too tire?

Thank you,

Derick

I would think the belt is still loose. Check your tension by twisting the belt side to side. If you can twist the belt more than 45 degrees, its too loose.

Not sure on a 4cyl, but my 92 V6 had 3 different PS belts depending on the VIN number at the dealer.

Did you get an aftermartket PS belt or OEM?

i have similar problem like yours... it turns out the power steering belt was loose. here is how to check to see if your belt is loose.

use your thumb press to see if you have a lot of loose tension... if you do, re-tight and the problem will go away...

power steering on my car that made the noise when turned the steering all the way to the left or right..i heard the noise...

i re-tight the PS belt, the problem went away.

hope this help you a little...
