'98 Camry Windshield Wiper Speed

I have a 1998 Camry LE. The windshield wiper switch has 3 options: low, high, or intermittent. It now runs on low for all three settings.

Any educated guesses on where (i.e. what part) this problem lies?

Thanks for your help!

when i've seen this in the past, it was the logic controller in the wiper motor. can't order it separately tho - have to replace entire motor. maybe you can get one at a junkyard for $25-30 if you're lucky (and bring cash)

A related question - when I turn off the wiper, they stop right where they are when I switch them off. I have to put it on intermittent in order to get them in the rest or start position.

Is this another sign of needing a new motor?

Thanks for the informative reply. I was afraid it would be a "whole unit" kind of a deal. The part price doesn't sound bad assuming I can find it in a bone yard.

Any guesses on how long the install would take for someone that hasn't done this particular job before?

Thanks again.

Strum, this is something that came along with my current problem. I would guess yes but defer to those with more experience.

same logic board. this is another symptom. that's how the wipers can run and self-park even after you move the switch to OFF, or when you pull it back to run them once. at least they designed it so that when the "nice" features fail, you still have SOMETHING, so you can still drive if you have to!

Same question. I have the exact same problem with my 1998 Camry LE. Assuming I can find a wiper motor, will I be able to do the install? I'm no pro, but I can get by on most jobs. Thanks!
