2000 Camry 4 cyl erratic idle
Here's an FYI in case anyone else has this happen.
My 2000 4 cyl Camry with CA emissions suddenly started to have very erratic idling. It would go from normal to about 1800-2000 RPMs which would last for 10 seconds up to 20 minutes and then it would go back to normal. No CEL. Rather than go through everything I did, including replacing the IAC when cleaning it did not work, go right to the ECT, engine coolant temperature sensor. $29 at PepBoys and the problem was resolved.
