3rd Generation Update: G3 Rough Idle/Running rough

so after days of replacing what almost seemed everything in my vehicle; spark plugs, wires (replaced 3 times cuz the spark was actually traveling out of the cover), cap, rotor, fuel filter, fuel pump, and ignitor we finally got down to one option which we thought was causing my car to idle rough and to hesitate while accelerating, we replaced the coil. It did alot of difference, we noticed more power when we drove around, but the car still idled rough. Rough as in the engine seemed like it was gasping and shaking.

but we also did notice that when the spark plug wires sparked out, it would spark close to the metal piping of the short ram air intake. so we moved it as far as we could from the coil and with suprise the car has been running fine for a while now. i still dont want to take her out yet though, for the fear shell die on me again..

but my question is, if the metal piping for the intake is really close to the coil, could this actually cause a loss of power in the acceleration and make the car run rough? or is the wires bad? these arent the factory wires from the dealership, just some "good brand" from the local checkers.
