3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Okay, I have been looking around for some answers but just cant find any, so i decided to post it up and see if some one can help me.
I have a 97 i4 Camry.
It currently has 190/70/14, I had an older GS400 (2ndGen) and had it all L-Tuned out. So I still have the L-tuned Superturismo rims and wanted to mount them on the Camry, is this even possible, the rim size is 17x8.5 et50, tires are 245/40/17.....
these rims are Big Brake compatible too, they are good for supras and LS brake upgrades, but just dont know about the camry....
I know i need spacers, but will this even work, should i even attempt this,
any help would be appreciated
Below is the Superturismo Rim
I would say with the RWD offset and the 245 wide tire, I'd say you most likely can't get it to fit without spacers and extended studs. Not a good ideal IMO.
the wheels are gorgeous, but 8.5" is too wide of a rim ... and 245 is too wide of a tire. even after spacers, extended studs etc. theres just no way theyd fit ... i hate to be a pessimist but theres really no point in trying ... theyre just too big.
even if you could somehow miraculously get them to clear the struts, they would stick out of the wheel wells and look REALLY really bad.
Well, I guess it was worth a try, Those are great rims made by OZ, but just didnt want them lying around. Have to find another use for them... thx for the help
Shame that they won't fit. Thos are some really nice OZ rims, and I personnaly could have really seen it on a gen 3/3.5, even a gen 4 after some lowering springs...

yea man ... id hate to see them lying around too. but im sure theyre worth some cash! sell them on a lexus forum (youd probably get more there than you would here ) and get yourself the trd lip kit thats been on sale here for FOREVER ... imo one of the single best things you can do to improve the look of your car and its ridiculously cheap right now
M52go, did u use any spacers, on your IS rims, there only .5 inches smaller in width. and their 18's while mine are 17's did u need to do any suspension mods.???
we have same dilemna on those wheels.. i just got today a 2000 GS300 17" lexus wheels (seller gave it cheap thou). was surprised that its 8.5 wide, Now im kinda puzzled how to work it on my Camry 97 I4.
im thinking the correct tire size possible on this are 225/45/17(perfect) or 215/45/17(seem small to me).
Wheels are very nice just a little scratch and like you said.. sweet to put on. Let me know whats the outcome when you used spacers.. or do we need to change studs from GS lexus model?? members who are experts on this.. pls help.

the ideal size is 225/45/17 for the gen4- .. idk the offset of those lexus wheels- but if they're aggressive, you might wanna go with 215's instead to have a little stretch and less likely to rub.
