thinking of making a header for '95

Tired of not seeing any headers for a 1995 le,so I'm thinking of making a small one. The pre-cat will sit at the very bottom possible and I'll connect the 4 ubes to a collector on the pre-cat.Does anyone know if the stock muffler is restrictive? Lately i've been doing 5-8 hr drives on the freeway and i'd like some setup to save me more gas.My job has me driving these miles. Thanks

since you have a 4cylinder you could swap your stock muffler for a v6 one instead. it will be a better flow but not call attention. as for headers the celica headers fit with minor modifications.

these are for a celica but the will work the mr2 ones take more time to fit

no modifications need done since i did it already, but you will need to weld an o2 bung on the top, but you can run without it. looking for 200 firm + shipping.

most important question...when was teh last time you performed a thorough tune up? depending on that you could free up alot of MPGs.

well i did say "you could". ive seen quite an improvement on high millage 5sfes(especially highways milles ones), mostly because of sludge buildup. but then id spend money on that before wasting it on headers which wont do anything but reduce back pressure and take some of your low end power. a good tune up will also improve engine life...i doubt headers would. i have serious doubts your not gonna get + MPGs from headers, or at least not enough to jsutify the cost. but you could install a high flow cat and that would likely help alot more since its the most restrictive part of the 5sfe's exhaust.

but hey its your money/time.

How restrictive IS the stock cat? Is it worth changing it out to a magnaflow one?

fairly restrictive, but its a cost thing. if you can justify the cost to replace the cat with a HFC then its a good little upgrade. removing it if legal in your state is even better.

ecomodder.com if you want to get more MPG's. Most of the adjustments come from the nut behind the wheel. I'm 20% over EPA with no powertrain mods and very little aero mods.
