How do power windows "know" the top?

I have a window noise problem when driving at 60 or so. I already spent a good amount of time experimenting and trying things, and believe that the problem is wind is leaking in at the top of the window, rather than around the door frame.

While it might be the "weatherstripping" around the window, the rubber actually doesn't look that bad, so I am wondering if the mechanical linkage that moves the window up, has a "stop block," which might be stopping the window a small fraction of an inch too soon.

Can someone tell me and save the trouble of opening the door panel?

^ It's just a very simple electrical motor. U pull the button, the motor goes up until it can't go no further, then it stops. If u continue to pull the button, the regulator eventually heat up ...

i was in an accident not too long ago where i guy came and hit my camry on the driver side. needless to say i had to replace my original door with one off a junker. i havent quite got the alignment right when i installed the new door. before i could close any of my doors with a little push of a finger but now i have to exert an extra amount of force for it to close right. i am pretty sure that its because my alignment is off that driving at higher speeds i notice a lot more wind noise and outside interference.

check the alignment on the door. i doubt it would be the window because it goes until it cant anymore then automatically cuts off. unless there is something that got caught in there which in that case you could check by using the passenger door as a guideline. when the window is closed take a dry erase marker and trace around the door molding and do the same for the driver side and compare how much there is past that marking on both to check for a discrepancy.

i am going to say that its probably the weather stripping. keep us posted.

Croyce, If you got hit on the side or T-boned, maybe the frame is out of shape slightly?

I get this on my gen 2 Camry at freeway speeds and think it's the side mirrors making the sound. I definitely wind the window all the way up and it still makes the noise. Weatherseal is descent as well.

it was a pretty superficial hit. it dented in my door in pretty bad but my a and b pillar seem fine. the door even closed properly after the accident with the safe feathertouch kind of push so im assuming its okay.. but i could be wrong. i just wish the new door closed with the same oem build quality
