3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
after 2 whole weeks of fixing we finally got it running. but not for long, i tear it down and decided that i dont want to modify it anymore. after a good couple of test drive i felt the power, but alot of money has drown in this project. i give alot of credit to my brother for helping me out on installing it, and my other brothers for motivating me to finish this project. now that its done im parting out this turbo kit. i spent well over 700 on parts and labor. im looking to get 700 back. heres pics and a vid of the car running.
The first turbo with shaft play.
Second turbo that has the oil leak that made me stop this project.
the oil leak was coming from the oil feed and return line. we use gasket, the 1 minute gasket thing and tighten up everything, but the leak still came back. everything was cool, turbo spool good, it was bogging out at 5k rpm, but other then that, boost feels great. wish i have a close dyno shop but the closest one is like 20 miles out.
nestor, whenever you feel like you want to pick up just let me know. this piping is actually made for 94-96 camry, which you will have to delete your washer fluid box inorder to use it. but like i said, everything total, i spend more than 700. im only asking 700 for it. some things are missing, but the only main thing thats missing is the downpipe. car runs great if it never hit over 4500 rpm.
I might think about selling the coupe. but not in this form. it'll go back to all stock.
wait your only problem was the turbo? was it new or used? i used a 7mgte ct26/3sgte ct26 hybrid on mine and had no leaks but the bearings spun i wouldn't quit and you didn't spend much on top of that.
another example of a budget build gone wrong on a poor platform. id say im sorry to see it but i kinda expected it. most guys who even have successfull builds want more then the car can offer. glad ya at least tried though. GLWS
I'd say on a build like that, at least you're parting it out before you blow your motor like everybody else! you can't even do a good quality build for a civic for under 1.5-2K. good try though!
or...why don't you say that you never would have blown your motor, and that you'd like to prove me wrong by keeping the turbo?

i may buy a t3/t4 turbo and try this setup once more. Since i do have a t3/t4 manifold. we'll see what i'll do, but most likely, i'll just sell the parts.
