hey,
so today after driving maybe 20 miles, and i reach my destination. i notice that after i parked. my brake lights are still on. the car was completely off, and all three brake lights were on still. so i checked fuses, checked if the brake was stuck. no luck
i know that when that happens, it usually means an electronic component is not working right
any idea's what it is?
Your brake light switch mounted on the brake pedal (under the driver dash) is probably stuck. See if you can reach the connector and just unplug it. If the lights go out then you'll need a new switch.

+1 on the above, look on your floorboard and see if you find a small circular plastic piece that has broken off the top portion of the pedal. you toyota dealer will be able to sell you a new part. when installed, it depresses a switch that turns the brake lights off when the pedal is not being used.
+1 for the switch too. But it might not be a problem with the switch itself.
But instead it could be that the brake pedal is "sagging" and doesn't return to it's original spot where it'll push the button to turn the lights off. Check the play on the pedal, could be the spring or the fluid level or you might have to adjust the brake pedal height if it's necessary. If it all looks okay, then you'll have to adjust the switch itself.
The button distance to the pedal is adjustable and you can move it up so it hits the pedal at rest. There is a lock nut that you loosen so you can adjust the distance of the button to the pedal.
I've done with for my sister's TL twice already since I don't know much for Acura to fix the problem permanently, but everything else that I know how to check looks fine.
so turns out, its a plastic stopper that fills the gap b/w the pedal and the switch that broke...
but autozone doesn't sell that part.. so i have to find something to put in its place..
any ideas?
right so i fixed it now, random rubber stoppers ftw..
uhm, don't mind me posting 4 times in a row, i'm a bit light headed from being upside down for so long..
