Some squeaking in the belt area?

93 camry 6 cyl.

Someone told me to sparay some wd40 on the belts and pulleys? Any truth to this?

Did you try the most common reason for belt squeal? Check to see if the accessory belts are glazed over or damaged in any way. Next, check if the pulleys are properly torqued down properly. Hope that helps!! You might wanna try some belt dressing also...

IMHO the most common reason for the belt(s) squeaking is a loose belt. Did you check the tension and/or try to tighten the belts.

I would go with either response. If the belt is loose I would venture to guess that they have glazed over if the condition was going on for awhile.

Funny thing, I've never had it on any of my Camry's current or past, but I have on my Corolla's both current and past.

I've never heard of WD40 on belts (I would think that would only worsen the slipping). Dressing is more of a temporary fix or a delay in the inevitable tightening or replacing.
