Engine dies at stop light

Hey my camry seems to be cutting off after extended periods of braking such as going from 45 to a complete stop or so. Sometimes when I feel its about to cut off I'll just throw it in neutral and the rpms will shoot back up again. Not sure what's going on, it seems to mostly happen when things are running like the ac, stereo, and lights.

Sounds like a vaccuum leak

it's normal for RPMs to drop when the AC is in use...but not headlights. Check alternator or evidence of an electrical power leak (bad grounds)

I agree with default user.

Check the vacuum hoses that runs from the intake for any cracks and possible disconnections.
Go to autozone and have them check your alternator. and/or battery just in case.
Also check your spark plug gaps could also cause it to stall, and you might want to check on how long it has been since you last changed the fuel filter, clogged filter can cause it to cut off.

Clean the throttle body paying particular attention to spraying the cleaner liberally in the square or diamond shaped port in the base of the throttel body. That port leads to your idle air control valve where the problem may exist.

Here's a thread on how to do it:

^yea clean the throttle body and get those carbon deposits out of there. Idle air control valve gets deposits clogged in there so yea spray throttle body cleaner in that port and see how it runs

Mike, he's got the 3VZ, IAC's between the TB and the Firewall.

To the O.P:

The IAC valve is the hose that comes off the intake towards the firewall and then connects to the side of the TB. I got a can of Nulon TB cleaner and went to town on it. Let it sit for 10-15 mins and connected back up... turn the car over until it starts running. Watch the nice cloud of white come out the exhaust and go for a spin around the block or down the shops for an Iced Coffee or some beer.

Take it home. Let it sit in idle and see if you have the same problem.

There should be a guide on here to clean the IAC valve on the 3VZ engine... check the Camry FAQ. Have done it on both a Manual and Auto 3VZ and made a world of difference to the idle issues I had. Also check that the intake pipes are all clean and that the air filter isn't filled with shit too mate.
