Dye / Stain carpet of 97' Camry?

After 11 years, the base carpeting of my Camry is getting kind of dirty with a few stains that carpet cleaner won't remove. I was thinking of dying / staining it dark brown. Is this something that can be done in a weekend, or should I just forget it?

How do I go about removing it?

what kind of stains? Red dye stains? There are special, 2 part heat activated red stain removers you can get which will help remove those.

One is from a red slushie a few years back that a buddy of mine forgot and got knocked over, other is from mud/oil mixture from a parking lot that won't come out.

I think I'd like the dark brown as well.

I used rit dye and a pump sprayer

I dyed my light grey carpet using liquid Rit Dye Black. you MUST pull your carpet kit out use extremelly hot water and some good degreaser and scrub it really clean allow to dry. I used a 3 gallon pump sprayer 1 bottle Rit liquid dye and about gallon and a half of very hot water. i put my carpet kit on the grass far corner of my back yard and sprayed away. then let it sit in the sun till dry. then made another batch using a little under a gallon of HOT water and another bottle of Rit Dye. Allow to fully dry. repeat again if not satisfied. After satisfied and completelly dried hose it off to rinse off any dye that has not been saturated in the carpet and allow to dry. mine came out great weekend project maybe 3 days. GOOD LUCK!
