What size of C-clamp do I need to retract the calipers?
I want to put on new rotors soon so I went to the hardware store to buy a clamp and was going crazy trying make up my mind which size would work.

I use an 8" C-clamp.

I also have used the old brake pads stacked in the caliper and pried them apart to push the piston back into the bore as well.

I use a 4 inch or a 5 inch, whichever one is handy at the moment. You can also use a good set of channel locks.

just go to pepboys and buy the oem tool that pushed the piston back in. just did front pads and rotors today actually. the tool is like 5 bucks
