3rd Generation Hesitation

After much work has been put in, i am bout ready to drive my car off a mountain. I really need to get this car working before my son is born sometime in August. i dont wana miss his birth!

179,XXX miles. anyways i replaced coil, ignitor, fuel pump, spark plugs, wires, cap & rotors. the major idle and low rpm hesitation has gone away but two days later it came back only during high rpms. mainly 40-45+mph. its not very noticeable, but if your behind the driver seat it gets really annoying. im afraid this will worsen

the spark plugs, wires, cap & rotors are the oldest out of all that ive replaced, but are still new

any ideas? plz help

some describing words for this: boggs, hesitation, gasping, coughing, old lady about to die from smoking, hiccup

Exactly how old are they? I have seen aftermarket wires fail in as little as 1 year or 20,000 miles.

i purchased wires, plugs, cap & rotor on 4/29/09. the plugs are autolite dbl platinum :\ maybe i should go bosch or ngk? wires are called "OEM Standard"..thinking about returning and getting the actual one from the dealership.

when we fixed the major idling roughness problem, we also noticed that we installed the cap in upside down..so the sparks were going off at the incorrect time. we fixed that and the car ran better and felt like new for 2 days.

maybe that killed the spark plugs or something idk?

Stick with the proper NGK or Denso plugs as per your owner's manual. Some people on this forum have reported problems using Bosch plugs. On plug wires, I prefer to stick with Toyota OEM.

Also, have you checked for engine trouble codes and have you cleaned the throttel body?

I had similar problem at low rpm after doing the same work. I couldnt figure out what it was for a week. Finally changed the plugs again and it fixed the problem. I must of cracked or bent one while putting on the new wires. Maybe your wires went bad. Good luck with the car and the baby.
