If I wire my Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD's 12v power directly to my battery...

will it stop turning off when I turn the car on?

I hate when that happens, messes up the menu function on my iPod adaptor.

i believe it will drain the battery and run all the time. unless you have a cutoff switch somewhere inbetween the line.

I tried it already and my deck still cuts out when I take the key out. I know watching those DVDs with the key out is tempting but it didn't work for me .

Also, I did connect my deck straight to the battery and it was really really unsafe. If you have to, install a relay then to the battery at least.

So, other than adding a new battery, there is no way to make your stereo stay on when you turn over your engine?

It will still cut out. Head units are designed to turn off when the voltage drops below a certain point, and when you start the car this happens even when hooked up direct. You would need a second battery I'm pretty sure. Won't hurt though, as long as you give it a switch.

Edit:I was typing as you put up your last post, but you are absolutely correct, a new battery is the only way.
