This is downright DISGUSTING, what caused my engine to almost fall off in the street?

So Im driving along getting onto the highway going about 60 mph, between 2 and 3000 rpm when I here a loud sound similar to the jingling of giant keys. I think, "oh no...my serpentine belt is going to pop off".

Well I wish it did...But instead the jingling got louder and my shifting went crazy, I couldnt even accelerate. So luckily I was pulling off the exit onto the service road and it began to slowly stop (key jiggling sound still going). Then the weirdest thing happened when I put it in park, the car jerked violently...

This is no mystery but turns out the damn motor and transmission mount broke, which also broke my new CV axle and my bearings. I am fumming right now. What the hell could have caused this? I was only able to get half the estimate today as the parts stores are closed (Saturday).

I will admit I've been flooring from 40-90 mph lately so now I feel awful. However, several months ago a mechanic looked at my transmission boot? and had to tighten it as he said it was about to fall off. Then after that I drove another...6-7,000 miles up until today. Also a guy I met awhile back was a mechanic and on our 1st date he was in my car and said, "you need motor mounts". But he didnt actually open the hood.

I had an 87 buick several years ago that needed motor mounts, I used to abuse that car and nothing of this degree of HORROR hapened. Was it just old? Was it bad driving habits? Was it just falling apart all this time and the mechanics at Toyota, and my personal mechanics never warned me of this?

Car still moves, but continued driving will "mess up the transmission" so Im basically carless AGAIN (last time was timing belt), but this time Im taking it in stride and keeping my chin up. Im trying hard not to cry right now.

Well bad mounts explains the reason the mechanic had to tighten up some bolts. More vibration = stuff gets loose.

It shouldent be to expensive to get done though, maybe the mount rusted through ( sorta unlikely) or jsut fell apart.

Maybe the mounts were already perishing (small tears or cracks) and you driving hard the past few km's sealed the deal and cracked them in half?

You'll need to put a chain between the body and block like those muscle cars!!!

Still a sad story... but very sexy to know there's a chick out there beating a camry!

Could we ever meet?

its the motor mount, transmission boot, cv axle. The mechanic made it seem as if the cost would be so high that it'd kill me. Im so frightened right now. I dont mean to sound dramatic, but I thouhgt I had these repairs under control (was about to change all brake parts last week) and then this happens.

It makes me want to pour gasoline and set ablaze. But of course that only makes matters worse. Why!?

Do any of you suggest I have towed to different mechanic? The engine was clearly out of place, and so was the axle, but is there any hope in GOD that I could just tightened one or 2 bolts and get going. Like I said, the car was pretty fucked up, it barely moves and then the sound of metal to metal comes into play, and it just jerks violently. Im glad Im alive right now as this happened on a 4 lane highway on a busy Saturday afternoon.

Its pretty much impossible that the mount bolts just fell out. The parts for this aren't gonna be crazy expensive but if you have to replace the axles again, it might start to add up.

If the cars in otherwise perfect shape, fixing it would be the best choice.
