Remanufacture CV Half Shaft Assembly

I have been doing some research about cracked CV boot for my 94 Camry I4.

This is the second time I have to change it, the first time I took it to a mechanic which changed all four CV boots about 5 years ago. And today the outer passenger side CV boot is cracked again.

I read the FAQ and found a very good posting this is a "how to" on replacing the passenger's side CV boots (warning- many photos)

But my question is, how about using a re manufactured half shaft assembly instead of doing all the work with the CV boots?.

This is what I was thinking of buying. Has anyone tried this?.

My personal experience with O'Reilly remanufactured axles is not good. I was working on an Honda Accord. The first axle was not the right size,(found that out after wasting a half hour!), the second axle had an outer joint that would barely move. I decided to go to Pep Boys and get a new axle. The quality of some re manufactured axles is poor to say the least. Doesn't matter to me if they have a lifetime warranty if I have to expend the labor to remove and replace them more often.

If it was me I'd go the new axle route or just go to Toyota and get a new boot kit. I recently did that on a Corolla and was amazed that the kit only cost $8.00 more than universal kit from O'Reilly. The Toyota kit had a new snap ring, new axle circlip, lots of grease, nice clamps that were easy to install, and the rubber on the boot was thicker. The universal kit did not include a new snap ring or axle circlip and it would have required me to use part of the old boot (inner CV joint) and then cut the boot to fit. No thanks!
