4th Generation Gen 4.5 taillight fit Gen 4?

Was wondering if anyone knew for certain if the CORNER taillights for a Gen 4.5 will fit on a 4. Its obvious the center (trunk) lights wont fit but do the corner ones? I've found a post similar to my question but all the responses were from internet jack asses and wanted to know if its possible.

They don't make a lot of taillight kits for the Gen 4. Ive found clear corner ones but they have become scarce lately... I would also be tempted if anyone knew of a good custom LED shop that could make taillights as well... Getting tired of the same old look i guess you could say.

Thanks again.

I don't think that they will. Reason is if you look on the toyodiy.com parts website there are two different part numbers for the rear lights.

How about this, measure the width of your corner lights at the widest part which should be right next to the trunk lid. I have my original corner lights I could measure from my 2000 camry.

As I look at the lights between the gen 4 and gen 4.5 I think the 4.5 is a larger light as it starts to gradually get wider before the trunk tail lights.

thoes are sold as gen4.5 tails. though they could have been modded to fit. your idea about measuring is the best way to tell for sure.

Oh good god, that's nasty. I don't know what it is, but I hate altezza tail lights, and that thing just makes me sick.

Regardless, I ran the tape measure along my tail light. From the start of the reflector it is 2.5 inches, as I run it along the light, it is nearly 4.5 inches at the end where it connects up to the trunk.

My guess is the gen 4 is going to be the same measurement all the way through.

2.5? not sure what you were measuring, but that doesn't sound like any light on the camry except maybe the license plate light.

I just measured my 98's outer tail lens section. at the front edge (side of car) it's just shy of 4" tall with the tape measure vertical (not following angle of tail light). at the trunk side it's again almost exactly 4" tall, and again not following the angle. it seems like if you did follow the angle, it might be the 4.5" you mention.

just so there's no confusion, here are the pics:

worst case scenario, you can shave down the bumper cover, since it's the bottom edge of the light that gets wider (taller).

that said, i think gen4.5 outers would look weird next to gen4 inners, even if the lines match up, because the inners are so "foggy" compared to the crystal clear outers of a 4.5. plus the inners on a 4.5 double as brake lights, whereas the inners on a 4.0 are only tail lights. This last bit is minor, but still worth mentioning. Now if you were to paint the inner lenses body color so that only the reverse lights were visible, then maybe it wouldn't be such a big deal.

I myself prefer the look of the 4.5 rear (and front too) better than my 98, but it's not worth the work to me to convert the rear. I might still eventually invest in some gen4.5 headlights though - that is pretty minor work to me, and doesn't have to be perfect since all the cuts you make are not visible after the headlights are installed.

I had measured it on my original stock rear lights. I did the same measurements you did on my depo clear corner lights.

well i guess that settles it. without doing some body work, gen4.5 lights won't fit a gen4.
