4th Generation high idle in PARK + rough in DRIVE + stuttering acceleration

ey guys. pretty much what the title says. at normal temp it idles at around 1500 - 1650 rpms in PARK or NEUTRAL. when in DRIVE it idles at around 900 - 1000 rpms. it's worse when the AC is running. almost feels like it is about to stall but never does.

as far as acceleration goes. it stutters at around 1500 - 2000 rpms from 0 - 20 mph. even at 50 mph going to 60 the engine really stutters. i added some techron cleaner thinking it was the fuel injectors before i filled up my last tank. that didn't do me any harm or good. i'm thinking about doing a second treatment.

i also hear a misfire type noise...could it be a faulty cylinder?

hopefully i'll only need to clean the IAC valve, throttle body, and replace/clean fuel injectors.

let me know watsup. thanks in advance.

I'd guess some sort of leaks in vacuum hoses, or even the air intake hose.

^ I have to agree with Judge2. Start troubleshooting by checking for vacuum leaks.

3rd Generation

this was recently happening to my 94 until i took it to the shop and wasted money on a simple conclusion.

i changed fuel pump, filter, wires, coil, ignitor and spark plugs.

after all that the car was still running the same. so i took it to a shop, they said it was bad fuel injectors..so i took it to another shop before i spent 300$ on cleaning injectors plus another 100 to replace the bad injectors. the other shop said i had defective spark plugs..even though they were brand new, still looked good also.

changed them with an upgraded NGK lithium brand and bam. car runs great.

might i advise you to check the things you can do on your own before sending her away to a shop and wasting 100$ just for them to tell you your spark plugs are defective.
