96 Camry V6 CEL light and no codes
Well maintained 96 Camry with 170K miles started having more than regular maintenance problems with a need for the front piece of the emission system including catalytic converter to be replaced in January and the air conditioner compressor replaced in May. A couple of weeks after the air conditioner compressor was replaced, the indicator light (that comes on if there is an electrical problem with the engine or transmission or that the gas cap is loose) came on. There were no codes. The mechanic checked things over and the turned off the light. A few weeks later it came on again. After driving it around and ignoring the light for a couple of weeks, the car wouldn't start easily one morning...just clicking. After turning off air conditioner, etc. it finally turned over and started charging up the battery. (I don't think there was any light left on). We let the car sit for about 20 minutes, charging and drove it to the garage. Again, no codes and battery tests say it is fine.
Has anyone had problems with the CEL coming on, staying on, and not producing codes in the 96 Camry V6?
