RTV / FIPG is wonderful stuff.

They come in different chemical resistance, temperature and hardness to suit application.

RTV 103 (formerly made by GE) is a soft (allows thermal expansion) FIPG.

The key is to get the mating surfaces clean - clean - very clean.

You can use any loctite/permatex (or other competetor) FIPG that list oil pan/trans pan for their application.

Grey FIPG that I have seen are stiffer and made especially for valve covers and brearing plugs and the like.

The original should be RTV (FIPG). You can use Permatex Ultra Grey.

However, traditional cork-rubber gasket is also available. Such as the $7.63 Fel-Pro OS30468C:

Just make sure surfaces are clean and oil free for both types. Otherwise they're more likely to leak. Personally I'd go with cork-rubber gasket for pans. I RTV water pump paper gaskets.

Thank you all!

These information are very helpful.

Today, I bought the permatex ultra grey, butwhen I got under the car and look at the oil pan, I getup to do this. The screws are rust very much, unable to take it off.....

and I have to take many parts off before to take off the oil pan

I will post the pictures tomorrow.

Thank you again,

Derick
