4th Generation Cel

Well my sisters 2000 camry has a check engine light. how do i check what the code is? i seen my cousins do it but i don't recall how they did it. the counted how many times the CEL blinked. (they did it on their honda) can i do this to my sisters car? and how do i find out the code?

2000 camry has OBDII system so you can just go to autozone and have them pull the codes with a reader for free.

When you go to Autozone write down the code number and report it back here and someone will be able to give you some help. Sometimes the Autozone guys will just tell you what they think you need to replace, instead of giving you the actual code number. I've seen it happen a few times. The code will begin with a P followed by 4 digits. Something like P0135.
