4th Generation stuck strut nut

My impact gun rated at 220 ft lbs won't budge it so I ran out and bought a 24" breaker bar. I gave it everything I got with the bar and it still won't budge. WD40'd the nut, used a car jack and it still won't budge. The breaker bar is actually bending (see pic).

Any suggestions?

Maybe I'm looking at it wrong, but with that jack set up to push the bar up, wouldn't that tighten it?
The way I'm seeing it, you should be pushing it down to loosen it.

If I'm wrong, try a penetrating lubricant instead of just WD40.
If that doesn't work, you can heat it up to expand the metal, not sure if that's a good idea for the strut though.

my electric dewalt impact wrench gun works fine, make sure you turn it at the nut, not the bolt, if your 24" extension didn't work for you, you probably can go to homedepot fence section, and buy a 6 ft pole/pipe extension, it works fine for me before i bought my dewalt from lowes, 345ft/lb, 2700 impact per minute, my 6 ft pipe still works well, but impact gun is a lot easier.

here is the link
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...92K&lpage=none

i found the gun very useful, it works for my crankshaft bolt, big druve axle nut, the trick is i have to keep the object from loose or spinning, so it doesn't obsorb the impact force.

you're right... he's tightening it, not loosening it! come on... everybody should know this: righty tighty, lefty loosey. no wonder the OP can't budge it... its going to be even harder to loosen it now.

OMG you are right I was tightening it!!! I was about to call it a day but I'll go back and loosen it the right (lefty) way. I'll check back later. THANK YOU!

Done! I was able to loosen it by pushing down with my full body weight. I bounced on the bar a couple of times and the nut came loose. The passenger side nut was loosened by pushing up, so without checking, I did the same on the driver side. Big mistake. The lesson to be learned here is to check the bolt threads before doing it

New strut next to the old strut

New strut installed

while you are working on the car, make sure to top off your blinker fluid.

This is classic

Everytime you try and loosen or tighten a bolt, you should think to yourself ...

"Righty Tighty ... Lefty Loosy"

Not trying to be rude, but before you work on a car, you should definitely know the basic mechanics of hardware. It would be really shitty if you went underneath your car and then realized that the jack stands or the jack itself is placed incorrectly, and KABOOM your dead or critically injured, that would be a kick in the nuts, eh

This is a good reminder that everyone should be safe when working on there cars, "Think twice then Do once, or you may not Do anything again" Alot of people dont realize how dangerous a car can be, especially when its not moving.

and oh, i just found the "more smilies" section... , dont know when anyone would use this one, lol
