DO I have to get specific kind of reader or is there one for all the cars? How much are they? Mi engine light goes on and off any idea what could it be? I know I have no code for you but maybe someone has some experience with engine light going on and off. Thanks

OBD-II started in 1996. Look at the underhood emissions decal for the exact standard used in your car.

You can go to Autozone (or other participating parts store) to read the code free, or you can buy one of these $59.99 OBD-II/CAN Reader. It's better to get a CAN because it's compatible with newer cars.

If you have OBD-I is like jumpering and reading light flashes.

Yes it would work, but as stated above you can also go to Autozone and they will read the code for you for free. Get the code and report it back here and someone will be able to give you some direction. The port to connect it to should be under the dash, to the right of the steering wheel, as you are sitting in the driver's seat. If you do go to Autozone notice where they connect their code reader.

I went to Autozone and they gave me this code

P1410
Valve possition sensor circuit malfunction

probable cause-
BB1 Open or short circuit condition
BB2 poor electrical connection.

Anyone can tell me where that sensor is?? Thanks a lot.

"P1410 Toyota EGR Valve Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction "

This is the Toyota specific definition of the code. Check a Toyota techincal service manaul for it's location. If you don't have one available you can download one for free over at the top of the Camry forum at AutomotiveForums.com.

Most of the time engine light is off it is once in a while it shows up. Could it be the cable or something that got little loose and disconnects ? I'm not sure where to look.
