There is a thread called gen 3 & 4 dome light.
My experience once you get the bulb.
The bulb is a pain in the arse. Can't touch the bulb glass with your fingers, so good luck! I blew a fuse the first time. Please just unhook the battery, pry the cover off from the passenger side. The bulb is held in by pressure contacts. If it is the first time it has been changed, it may be more difficult. Just push towards the door direction on one of the contacts. Keep a flashlight handy for when it or the new one goes sailing into the stratosphere.
Putting the new one in was very trying. You aren't supposed to touch the glass, so good luck with that if you have man sized hands. Wrap tape around a pair of needle-nose pliers or alike and gently install it one side then the other. The tips of the bulb need to fit into the little holes in the contacts. It will work if they aren't in, but the first big bump and it's lights out!...LOL
Once it's in, connect the battery and turn on the switch in all three positions. Also check your headlights, dash lights and clock to make sure you didn't blow a fuse. The fusebox on my 97 is under the hood behind the battery. There is a little white plastic tool in there for changing the fuses. Very handy. The dome fuse is a 7.5 A which is located directly below the Main 40A and above the ECU-B 10A. Unhook battery again though if your fuse has blown.
OK, I am off to write another chapter in my Dome Lights for Dummies book.
