serviceable struts?

How do I know if my gen 3.5 has serviceable struts or not? I have a 95 le. Ive heard some people say that the 92-94 have non serviceable and the 95 and 96 have serviceable struts. is there any quick way to check?

Its the other way around Chris. 92-94 models have serviceable non-sealed struts, 95-newer doesn't. U'll notice that theres a cap on top of the strut housing where the shaft is telling u that its a sealed unit. Just pull up the strut boot to check it.

sigh is there anyway to put non-sealed struts in? what would i have to get? i found a deal on some tockio struts but they are the servicable non-sealed

U have to get the non sealed strut assemblies from 92-94 camry or Lexus ES300. Used ones if u can find them, it will say "toyota" on the struts. U should just get the whole strut assemblies for your car but i know it may kill ur budget but either way u may end up spending the same amount or more just by swapping the non sealed units and tokico inserts in your car.

Monroe. There used to be a big difference (like 40% cheaper) for an insert. But for the ones on rockauto.com, there is no advantage.

Just get a complete unit. Most of these come with lifetime warranty anyway. So it's not like you need to buy another cartridge in the future. Just return the busted one and pick up a new strut in the future.
