power steering fluid leak

My 97 Camry LE seems to have power steering fluid leak. When the steering wheel is turned, I can see oil dropping beneath the car (somewhere near the power steering fluid tank). If I drive the car and make a sharp turn, there's a continuous oil trace on the ground. The power steering fluid was refilled last week, and since then I've only driven the car for maybe 20-30 miles, but the fluid level is already well below the min level.

The mechanic shop asks for $180 to fix it. I'm wondering if it's a reasonable price.
Also, could I just use "power steering stop leak" as a temporary fix, which seems a much cheaper choice?

Sounds like the high pressure hose has gone bust if it increases when you turn the wheel. I hate those fluids claiming 'stop leak', while it may work, it will generally reduce the efficiency of the system. I replaced my high pressure hose myself and it cost $50 for the hose. So $130 for labour.

Consider yourself lucky if it's just the hose leaking.

For a second i thought you meant ur 'new' rack screwed up too!
