99 No Start ? Help..

My 99 died while driving down the freeway. After towing home and some testing these are the results; fuel pump functioning, fuel pressure at the fuel rail, car will start with starting fluid spayed in the air intake, swapped out camshaft position sensor for a known good and no change, the battery died while in tow and it sat for a couple days with no battery power. I'm not sure if this would clear any codes present but there are currently no codes and the CEL is not on. It now has a new battery. How can I tell if the injectors are firing? A noid light? If they are not firing would the problem have to be the ECM? The crankshaft sensor should be good because it starts with ether and the Crank sensor controls spark right? I'm in need of some guidance. Thanks.

How's the timing belt? Does it really start or just fire randomly?

what ind of sound does it make while starting??
knocking? thud? clicking?
it could be spark plugs, but sounds weird while driving
same with fuel lines
the maf could be reallly realllllly dirty
dropped valve would cause your motor to die real quick

i'd say check and switch the injectors, splugs and
clean the maf if you can.also check your vacume lines some times they can fall out and with cause your ecm to say "WTF"
also mayb pistons rings, those can cause u to lose compression like a b*tch and the car wont hold an idle.

good luck...

oh what motor?

how did the battery die while it was towed? is your alternator up to snuff? dying fuel pumps typically will pump again after car has been off and had time to cool. that still can be in need of replacing.

if you are getting a good spark, then i would focus on the fuel. since the car does start with the aid of starter spray, replace the fuel filter. check for leaks and then use a multimeter to check the fuel pump.

Sometimes what can happen is if the battery is left dead or unplugged for an extened period of time the computer can actually forget how to run. It happened to me when i changed my water pump and timing belt not to long ago, I was told that this can happen by my uncle who's worked for toyota for 12 years or so. No real way to fix it than to let it relearn on it's own how to run or take it to the dealer to have the computer reflashed with the info it needs.
