i believe thers supposed to be a rubber O-ring or two on the AIT sensor "stub". check the OEM airbox to see if it got stuck inside its origional port. they so that sometimes. this is a guess though, ive seen this a several other models but havnt really worked with the gen4 5sfe.

what exactly does that sensor do? is it apart of the emissions or something?

IAT= intake air temp sensor. technically works anywhere though. not really emissions, just for the ecu to read the incoming air temp

nice choice. been meaning to get this setup..still running a spectre. but if i were you, you should just do what everyone else said. just snug it in with another rubber tube. i heard of stories that a misplaced or bad IAT could throw the check engine light

In the case of a short ram intake it's true that the position of the IAT isn't so important. Think about it - the air going into the piping comes from the engine bay, which will be the same temperature almost anywhere in the engine bay (behind the battery, at least). On the stock airbox the IAT's position will make a difference because the air within the box will be cooler.

But since there's a spot on the pipe for it, it's best to plug up that hole with something. If you can make it fit, the IAT is a good choice.
