^ first of all i dont know whether he has servicable struts or not and the shock components is what needs upgraded...whether or not its a full shock strut assembly or not. second, blowing the stock components is why youd want aftermarket shocks.
technically you dont NEED them. but from a common sense, been there before, dont want to waste the time, standpoint, youll want to get performance shocks for three reasons. 1. to handle the drop(especially since thoes springs are likely fairly soft). 2. to keep the springs from wearing out faster because of the bound and rebound of the stock shocks. 3. to save time. id rather do shock and springs at one time then have to go through the hell twice, and it IS hell if youve never screwed with the suspension before.
but its your car and it would be hard to convince me to wait too...just trying to save ya some headache.
