Ohhh my gawd! A BMW!! The ultimate driving machine. Way cool!
So how many miles do you have on there? A manual or a paddle-shift ZF 6HP series automatic? N52 inline-6 that uses NO throttle plate to control acceleration (does so by continuously variable valve lift)?
Among the things like brake fluid and coolant flush. Depending on miles you should consider a tranny filter change. However, the LePelletier designs have strigent requirements in fill/check procedure. Most mechanics can't do it right and end up burning up your clutch packs by underfilling.
You can get the transmission filter/pan and such from your local Transtar Industries when the time comes. They're an authorized ZF distributor.

I'm sorry. No part out. I gave it to my step mother to trade in with her Sienna to buy a Mustang.
But hey, we have a BMW and a Mustang now!
But I appreciate the comment. It makes me feel like I made a good choice lol.
Its on cardomain if you wanna see more pics.
And I'm not leaving. I'll still be lurking around. Mainly on the Yaris forums since my cousin has a Yaris and has this notion that making it AWD will be easy lol.
and I purchased a 5 year warranty that covers pretty much everything on the car, but at the same time prevents me from doing my OWN work. everything has to be done by a licensed shop. so while i hate to not be able to work on the car, it saves me from the fustration of working on such an overdesigned car lol.
Yeah, BMW engines are superbly engineered. Some owners actually do an intermediate oil change in between the standard 15,000 mile service even with the standard 4-year free maintenance from what I can read.
The only thing I'd pay attention to is probably periodically getting the ATF serviced with a new filter. I don't believe in "lifetime" ATF. (Probably the A5S360R 5-speed transmission coupled to the 3.0L N52?). Just make sure the shop does it right.
Great ride! It's a premium performance car lightyears ahead of its competition!!
Looks like the Beamer's getting lots of love! Appreciate it everyone!
And actually its 2.8L M54 engine. The 3.0L is in the 330i E46, and the M3 E46 is the S54. Not sure about which transmission it is in my car. And lifetime ATF? I dont quite believe that either. Luckily mine is a 5spd! I planned on having it serviced about every two oil changes or so. Atleast that's what other E46 owners say they do and their Beamer's run fine.
And its definately premium performance! This sucker will scoot!!!
Ohhh OK. I guess I got it mixed up with the 2006+ E90! But hey, they're all great!
