Questions About Ball Joint Replacement

Going to change ball joints tomorrow, as one of them is loose. I checked around the forum as usual for any DIY guides or anyone talking about the removal and didn't find much. Also looking at the repair manual doesn't have much info on the ball joint, just makes it look very easy.

So to remove the ball joint just take out the 2 nuts and 1 bolt. Then lower the suspension arm down to where i can get the ball joint off? Or do I have to remove the lower suspension arm to get the ball joint off?

Any tips/tricks would be helpfull.

Thanks

always list the model of car you are asking a question about....

you should take the entire steering knuckle off...
first, get the brake caliper off, 2 bolts, then pull off the disc.
then the axle main bolt... 30 or 32mm i think...
then the strut.. 2 bolts with nuts on the other side..
then pound out the axle (but dont ruin the threads),
then you can remove the 2 nuts and under the bottom of the suspension arm and one bolt on top ... they are usually rusted to hell.. throw some penetrating oil on there before starting the job... you maye have to start them turning with a breaker bar and finish with an impact wrench.

then you have the steering knuckle out and can replace that ball joint if thats what you need to do.

The model of the car is a 2000 Camry, 4 cylinder, Auto.

I also found this write up:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you...oyota_Camry_LE

Which seems to be very similar to the setup of this car. With this instruction seems like you don't even need to take off a lot of things.
