USA 2000 5S-FE slightly low idling RPMS

Hello,

I'd like to compare idling RPMS (Drive gear at full stop) with your 5S-FE engines AFTER warm up, let's say 5-10 minutes from cold start in summer should be enough.

I completed tune up (plugs, wires, filters) recently and was thinking what else I may check/change/clean to improve engine revs at idle during driving.

for me they are:

Drive gear at full stop,
3rd bar sharp on RPM gauge (dashboard)

RPMS pointer sits exactly and always in the middle (visually) between 0k & 1k, touching the 3rd bar - not sure if it corresponds to 500 or 700, this scale is not linear for first 1,000.
to my taste this is a little to low, i can feel steering wheel a little shaking and I saw engine shakes a tiny bit at such revs.

Park gear,
around 4th bar, varies with A/C running (usually drops to middle between 3rd and 4th bar).

I was thinking about 2 options left for me. cleaning the Throttle Body and buttefly thing (IAC related stuff) or replacing the PCV valve.

both are easy to do, just wanted to hear some expert opinions.

thanks!

In the last year I changed the spark plugs/wires, PCV valve, valve cover gasket, cleaned the IAC through the throttle body with TB cleaner, and Seafoam'd through the brake booster line (prior to changing the plugs). My idle is very consistent.

In drive at a full stop the idle sits between 600-650. In park it's just over 700 RPM.

what is your idle rev speed on D at full stop (which bar it points to on dashboard gauge)?

Well, each successive "bar" represents 200 more RPM, so mine idles very slightly above the 3rd bar.

Normal idle for the 5SFE is supposed to be 750 +or- 50 RPM, I believe. So if yours sits to halfway between the 3rd and 4th ticks, then it would be 700 RPM which is what it should be at.

thanks for info!

mine sits on 3rd bar or even slightly below it in D at full stop, so i believe it is ~550-600rpms. never goes higher. in park it sits between 3rd&4th or at 4th (700-800). seems kinda low at full stop in D to me, because it becomes shaky and louder than. a lil more (~50rpms) and it's quiet again.

bought the new PCV valve today and TB cleaner (carb cleaner actually), will replace it and clean soon to see if it makes any difference.
